Permanent exposition in the main building of the Museum will guide you through the history of Litomyšl from its very first reference, which can be found in Cosmas's Chronica from the beginning of the 20th century. In the first part of our exposition you can see the beginnings of local settlement, archeological findings on the old castle's hillock, as well as religious and general cultural productivity of Litomyšl from Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque period. The second part of our exposition is dedicated to the 19th century and related Czech National Revival. Many important writers, painters and musicians joined their lives with Litymošl in this time. The most important landmark, which can be found in this part of exposition, is the garnet bracelet of Božena Němcová, a famous novelist, who sold this jewel in the period of her extreme poverty to the wife of the doctor Mr. František Rybička from Česká Třebová.
In the main building you can find also area for short-term thematic exhibitions. The programme of these exhibitions for current year can be viewed only in Czech version.
